Actor Elliot Page said in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that he “feels comfortable with his body for the first time.” Page, who came out as transgender last December, sat down with Winfrey to talk about her transition.
The actor told in an exclusive clip of his conversation with Oprah the reasons why he revealed all about his transition to TIME magazine in March. Page talks about her decision to reveal all about her surgery and the importance of supporting transgender people with medical care.
“I wanted to talk about it for a couple of reasons,” Page, 34, told Winfrey.
“I wanted to share with people how much my life has changed. And I want people to know that not only has my life changed, I think it has saved my life and that is the case for many people, “revealed the actor.
“It is important because there is such an attack on the health of trans people at this time, when there is already so much lack of access or trans people who do not even want to go to the doctor,” he said.
Elliot Page came out as a transgender man in December 2020
Page publicly declared himself a transgender man in December 2020. Later, in March, he gave his first interview since coming out of the closet. In this one, he told TIME that he grew up feeling like a child from a young age.
It was in December that Page said: “Hello friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he / they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. Having come to this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me throughout this journey. ”
