Dwayne Johnson Shares ‘Black Adam’ Release Date With Epic Times Square Ad

The long-awaited Dwayne Johnson Black adam The movie finally has a release date. The action star took to Instagram on Sunday to share a video of the epic ad, which took place in Times Square in New York City.

In the clip, which gave fans a panoramic shot of the world-famous tourist destination, all the massive screens in Times Square were turned off simultaneously. Then all the screens started playing an ad that sounded somewhat sinister.

Johnson’s booming voice echoed through Times Square as the announcement began: “The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change.”

As the foreboding voice-over sounded, the screens showed the Black adam Lightning, then the name of the movie and the release date: July 29, 2022.

“A disruptive and unstoppable global force from a message from the same man in black,” Johnson captioned in the clip.

Hours before the huge, and undoubtedly expensive, Times Square ad, Johnson teased the big reveal with an animatic, which gave fans a history lesson on the Black adam character.

“It is said on the street that Black Adam, himself, is making an announcement today,” Johnson captioned in the clip. “Let’s see what he has in store.”

Black adam marks the second film in the DC / New Line collaboration, after Shazam!which hit theaters in April 2019.

In the DC Universe, Black Adam is one of the main antagonists that Shazam often faces. With Black adam dating a year before Shazam! Fury of the gods this movie could be setting up Johnson’s Black Adam as the great evil of this particular corner of the DC Extended Universe.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Pierce Brosnan has been cast as Dr. Fate, while Noah Centineo is set to play superhero Atom Smasher. Meanwhile, Quintessa Swindell has signed on to play Cyclone, while Aldis Hodge will play Hawkman.

Production in Black adam is scheduled to begin in April in Atlanta, Georgia, according toThe Hollywood Reporter.
