Drew Barrymore finally shares the details of why she was admitted to a psychiatric facility when she was 13 years old. The actress revealed that she was admitted to Van Nuys Psychiatric for a year and a half due to her problems with addictions at such a young age.
“I would go to clubs and not school and steal my mother’s car and, you know, it was out of control,” the actress, 46, said on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM on Monday.
Barrymore explains that her mother admitted her to a psychiatric facility, where she spent 18 months. “I was in a place for a year and a half called Van Nuys Psychiatric and you couldn’t waste your time there. If you did, they threw you into the padded room or put you on a stretcher and tied you up”He said in a demanding tone.
The “ET” actress says that He used to cause riots in the facility due to his constant outbursts of anger.
She also explained a little about the place where she was held. “It was like half a children’s facility and half a place for the elderly. So while I was teasing these girls, an elderly woman passed by, walking in a walker. That was really funny, ”he recalls.
