Right handedit is returning to our television screens, and it also seems to be returning to its murderous ways. Showtime released a new teaser for the show’s upcoming revival on Thursday, hinting that old habits are hard on the show’s main character.
Set in “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” the new trailer opens with a shot of rumbling fire outside in the snow, before backing away to reveal Dexter (Michael C. Hall) staring out the window. Behind him is a person struggling under Dexter’s trademark plastic wrap.
“I’m just a soul whose intentions are good. Oh God, please don’t let them misunderstand me,” the song reads, as Dexter turns around and smiles.
The teaser was released exactly one week after the show’s first footage was released.
“There’s really nothing like going back to nature. My nature,” Dexter said in the first preview, about images of an ax resting on a snowy tree stump, with a fire in the background.
The clip was only 10 seconds long, but long enough to get fans excited about what’s to come.
“This is amazing,” said one user wrote, adding awesome emojis. “I’m so fucking excited.”
“Goosebumps”, another additional.
Last week’s first teaser was the first new footage fans had seen since it was announced in October that the serial killer drama had been revived for a 10-episode season. The show began filming in February and is expected to premiere later this year.
Right handedThe finale, which aired after eight seasons in 2013, saw the character fake his own death, living under an assumed identity as a lumberjack in Oregon. This revival series will take place after a leap of a decade.
According to the official logline, “Set 10 years after Dexter Morgan disappeared in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the revival sees the character now living under a false name in a world far from Miami.”
In a January interview with ET, Hall spoke about why the time was right to step back into Dexter’s shoes.
“I have been approached, unofficially, many times on the streets by people who have ideas. But … I think there have probably been, before this, three legitimate ideas or concepts of what we could do and none of them felt right.” he said. “This, a lot has to do with the time that passed … It was a combination of the scripts and the moment. I always thought that maybe the time would reveal itself when the time is right to do it and it did. And I’m excited. I was. visiting the sets the other day and it’s real. It’s really happening. “
