Dan + Shay has no hard feelings after his live performance at this year’s ACM awards included a glitch.
“Apparently there was an audio / video sync problem on the television broadcast,” the country music duo tweeted on Sunday, after their performance of “Glad You Exist” at the Bluebird Cafe. “We are discouraged by that, but it happens, especially when the performances take place in various places.”
This year’s show featured dozens of artists performing more than 30 songs from six different stages at three separate venues in Nashville, Tennessee: the Ryman Auditorium, the Bluebird Cafe, and the Grand Ole Opry House.
“Congratulations to @ACMawards for putting on a great show,” added the couple.
While Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney’s performance may have been marred by some technical glitches, the pair still enjoyed a fruitful evening.
The musicians won the Duo of the Year award for the third year in a row and reflected on their careers and music.
“It’s absolutely amazing to be standing on stage here at the Bluebird,” Smyers marveled. “I remember visiting this place over 10 years ago before moving to Nashville with the dream of being a songwriter in this city. I’m still just as excited every day to wake up and write country music.”
ET spoke with the duo before Sunday’s show and they opened up about the importance of performing “Glad You Exist” and the iconic venue.
“I performed here before I met Dan and it was like the craziest moment. I was able to get on stage and I was like, ‘This is the moment! I think I made it,'” Mooney recalled. “There were like four people and it was the best experience of my life.”
“So being here and being able to do this performance on a song that means so much and that has become so much to other people is really special.”
“The song is so close to our hearts,” Smyers said. “Life is short, life is fragile and it is important for us to tell people that we care that we care about them. And I think last year made us realize that we never realized the things we take for granted. seated”.
