Candace Cameron Bure defends her options on social media. The 44-year-old actress took to her Instagram story Thursday after reading comments that criticized her for following certain people on social media.
“I read several comments from people … who were disappointed or told me that they were not following me because of the people I choose to follow on Instagram,” he said. “It’s always strange to me because I follow a wide range of people, politically, within my work industry, and then personal friends and things that I like.”
However, Bure’s wide range of followers does not equate to endorsement of the actress.
“Following doesn’t mean that I agree with everything they say and do. It just means that I follow a wide range of people for perspective,” he said. “I want to know what’s going on in the world. I want to hear different sides of the argument.”
“I follow people in entertainment that I don’t necessarily agree with or act with [as]But I want to hear what our society, what culture, is handing out, “Bure continued.” That helps me even more to know who I am, find answers, know the truth, and be prepared with those answers. “
While Bure firmly believes that “you don’t have to agree with everyone you follow,” she also knows that following people with opposing views isn’t for everyone.
“I choose to follow people who think like me and not like me. And I think that’s really the healthiest perspective. This is how I navigate social media,” he said. “I think it’s healthy to follow a lot of that, but I’m not an argumentative person in that way either, so if I read things that I don’t agree with, and even if that’s politically … I still go left and right – – My blood doesn’t boil. I don’t get mad at that. “
“It might be healthy for some of you not to follow people you disagree with, but it doesn’t bother me,” Bure added. “It just gives me perspective.”
Bure often addresses her critics online, most recently regarding the “nasty comments” she received about her family’s vacation card. Watch the video below to see what he had to say then.
