‘Bridgerton’ fans including Kim Kardashian react to Regé-Jean Page abruptly leaving the show

See you later. Bridgerton Fans received disappointing news on Friday, when it was announced that Regé-Jean Page would not be part of the second season of the hit show.

The 31-year-old British actor quickly became the rising star of the Netflix series by captivating and seducing fans like the Duke of Hastings during the first season. The first season focused on the character of Page and his love affair with Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne Bridgerton. While fans were hoping to see the continuation of their lives as newlyweds and parents in season two, sadly they won’t.

After Page expressed that it was a “pleasure and a privilege” to be a member of the show, fans, including Kim Kardashian, took to social media to react to her shocking departure.

“Hope for????” Kardashian exclaimed in Bridgerton’s Instagram post. She previously posted about “not being okay” after watching the hot scenes and Page and Dynevor love story unfold.

Show creator Shonda Rhimes wrote on Twitter: “Remember: The Duke is never gone. Just hope they see him again. #ShondalandMenOnNetflixAreForever.”

Others, however, weren’t quite as forgiving, with YouTuber Kalen Allen tweeting: “There better be a good reason Regé-Jean doesn’t return to Bridgerton! This news really ruined my morning! “

Others simply expressed their sadness and anguish with memes, GIFs, and more.

Season 2 of Bridgerton will focus attention on Daphne’s older brother, Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), as will The viscount who loved me, the second book in the Julia Quinn series on which the show is based. Bailey previously told ET that BridgertonThe second season would be “complicated and sexier.” Simone Ashley also plays the female lead as Kate Sharma and Anthony’s main love interest.

Earlier this week, it was also announced that newcomer Charithra Chandran is joining season 2 as Kate’s sister Edwina. In the books, Edwina is the one who initially catches the viscount’s heart. It is noted that Page’s Duke of Hastings rarely appears in the second book, as each is based on a new couple.
