Bringing the heat, even without the fire! Bad Bunny hit the Saturday night live stage over the weekend, and Rosalía joined in for a gripping performance of their hit collaboration “La Noche De Anoche.”
The pair brought with them some of the surreal art design that played a prominent role in their recent music video, including a set of arched white steps that served as a beautifully stark backdrop for their red-hot duo.
Unlike in the music video, the pair did not use pyrotechnics on stage, but when the pair began to serenade each other, they didn’t need flames to radiate the warmth of the lyrics.
Surrounding completely white ensembles, Rosalía and Bad Bunny did not let anything distract them from the force of their vocal duel while the audience at home and in Studio 8H watched with great attention.
The artist returned for his second set later in the evening and delivered a beautifully understated rendition of “I Wish You the Best.”
Sitting alone on the same harshly geometric, surreal steps, Bad Bunny sang the heartwarming song all alone and managed to captivate without any drama.
The celebrated singer also stole the spotlight in two separate sketches, which one can only hope is a hint of a possible host gig in the future.
First, Bad Bunny appeared in the pre-recorded music video for the episode, “Loco,” starring Ego Nwodim as a woman who has gone a bit insane due to the stress of the COVID-19 quarantine.
Later in the episode, Bad Bunny also had a small role in “Sea Shanty”, a sketch about vintage sailing ships, along with first-time host Regé-Jean Page. The artist plays the ship’s navigator, who, like everyone else on the ship, doesn’t really know what he or she is doing or speaking.
He only had a few lines, but he managed to get the most laugh out of his screen time like any cast member.
Bad Bunny is currently nominated for two GRAMMY Awards. His latest album, The Last Tour of the World, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Saturday night live airs live from coast to coast at 11:30 pm ET, 8:30 pm PT on NBC.
