Ronen Rubinstein is embracing who he really is. The 27 year old 9-1-1: lone star The actor revealed that he identifies as bisexual in a new interview with Variety posted on Wednesday.
“I fully identify as bisexual,” said Rubinstein. “It literally gave me goose bumps saying that. It feels so good to talk about it, it feels so good to finally be comfortable with it.”
Rubinstein explained that his role in 9-1-1: lone star as TK Strand, the gay son of Rob Lowe’s character, helped him embrace his sexuality, adding that it has been “a journey.”
“The most important thing to me is where I come from, it’s like people like me and people who have identified as bisexual or gay or like any part of the community, you’re just not welcome. It’s just as brutally honest as that,” he said . he told the magazine. “Either you faced insane amounts of profanity, like the F-word gets thrown all the time or you would get your butt kicked if you were gay.”
“So I was definitely afraid to accept how I felt. I was definitely more aware of it in high school. I was aware of my feelings and how I started looking at men, but I couldn’t talk to anyone about it.,” He He said.
Rubinstein added that 9-1-1 The fans’ love for TK and his boyfriend Carlos Reyes (played by openly gay actor Rafael L. Silva), nicknamed “Tarlos,” was “one of the biggest reasons” why “he finally felt safe and comfortable. to talk about it and to finally embrace it and be happy about it. “
The actor also noted that his girlfriend, Jessica Parker Kennedy, encouraged him to be vocal and fully supported him.
“In fact, she is one of the first people to respectfully call me,” he shared. “She asked me, ‘Is there something we should talk about?’ And I said, ‘Maybe.’ I didn’t know what that conversation would be like. And it probably went as well as possible. It definitely encouraged me to talk about it, just to live my truth. She says, ‘I love you for who you are, your whole self and people will love you for who you are and your whole self.’
He even said they were joking and she tells him, “Don’t leave me for Harry Styles.”
Another reason she now comes out of the closet with her sexuality is because she wanted “people to know that this is a hopeful and happy story.”
“I want people to know that they are not alone and that it is definitely okay.” “Believe me, I know it is not easy. My path has not been easy at all, but it is just one more thing that I can share with people to help them and let them know that I am here for them.”
After the article was published, Rubinstein posted a screenshot of the article on his Instagram, along with a message for his followers.
“Every day, you give me everything. You opened your Hearts and Souls to me. Now I give to you, my true full self. Thank you for giving me the Courage. Thank you for always Accepting me. Thank you for supporting me,” he wrote. “Let’s continue being ourselves. Let’s keep fighting for what is Right. Let’s keep loving and supporting each other. Thank you. I love you. Ro.”

“The fact that [executive producer] Ryan Murphy and the writers are keen to show this on primetime TV, it’s pretty epic. I am more than honored to be a part of it. And I think that’s why people are clinging to it and connecting to it because they have never seen anything like this on their television, “he said.” It’s nice to be able to connect with a large part of the world that seems like Carlos and TK. And I love that the writers have made it normal. “
