Notice, we were in a scene that was by no means a shape or form that was meant to be funny. We really had a wonderful time together.
Hailee also reflected on the emotional moment she learned she was joining the MCU – a defining moment for any player in the industry. “In fact, I was parking for Dickinson. My driver got out of the car and went to open my door and I closed it because it was like ‘I need a moment’, ”she explained. “I haven’t received a ‘you got the job’ call for a minute. As for Dickinson, Hailee is immensely grateful for having had the opportunity to play the iconic poet Emily dickinson and explore her sexuality in the Apple series. “It’s pretty amazing to be on a show that makes people feel like they can fight any box that someone is trying to put them in and play a character that was her- even without apologizing at a time when being who you are was totally unacceptable, ”Hailee said. “There was a path women were supposed to take and she was running in the opposite direction. And it’s not over, in a way. Emily Dickinson’s work lives on and, hopefully this show will continue. ”
