This year marks the 35th anniversary of one of cinema’s most iconic thrillers, fatal Attraction, and a new TV adaptation is in the works. Now, Glenn Close is focusing on the importance of the role, and what she’d like to see in a new take on the story.
ET spoke to Close at the New York premiere of his Apple TV+ series, Tehranlast week, and she reflected on the iconic and scary role of Alex Forrest, and how the character is still “very special” to her.
“I love him. I will love him forever,” Close shared. “It was a very important step in my career.”
The film, released in September 1987, garnered six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Close.
In regards to the planned TV mini-series reboot, Close has some ideas about what she’d like to see when it comes together.
“I hope they tell her the backstory, her side of the story,” shared Close. “I mean, I’d be happy if this was what we came up with [originally]But of course I would be very curious.”
The upcoming mini-series has tapped Lizzie Caplan to play Close Made Famous, and the famed actress has given Caplan some advice about the character.
,[Alex] There’s a human who needs a lot of help,” Close said of his famously troubled character. “He’s a fragile person.”
Meanwhile, season 2 of the Close series Tehran Premiered on May 6 on Apple TV+.
