Gina Lollobrigida hospitalized after suffering a fall at her home in Rome

The actress and candidate for Italian senator suffered a fracture and must undergo surgery.

The actress Gina Lollobrigida95, considered an icon of Italian cinema and one of the most glamorous actresses of the golden age of Hollywood, has been hospitalized in Rome after suffering a fall at home.

The Italian diva, who is running as a senator in the general elections on the 25th, suffered a domestic mishap this Saturday and although her condition is not worrying, she will be undergoing surgery scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, explained his lawyer, Antonio Ingroia.

Described as a legend in the world of Italian celluloid and awarded a Golden Globe in the sixties, Lollobrigida turned 95 in July, but she retains all her energy, enough to try to be a senator in the next legislature.

She is running as the main candidate in the single-member senatorial constituency of Latina for the Sovereign and Popular Italy party, a new eurosceptic political alliance that opposes sending arms to Ukraine and “war-mongering Atlanticism” and is supported, among other forces, by the Communist Party and for Socialist Homeland.

“As long as I have energy, I will use it for important things, especially for my country”, she assured in an interview recently published in the newspaper “Corriere della Sera”, where she was “fed up with listening to politicians speak without reaching solutions”.

“The protagonist of films such as “Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell” and “Mare matto” says that she made the decision after speaking with Ingroia, and moved by her greatest inspiration, Mahatma Gandhi, whom she praises “his way of doing things, nonviolence.”

Lollobrigida already tried her luck in the world of politics in the 1990s, when she ran for the European Parliament at the hands of Romano Prodi’s democrats, but was not elected.

The polls for the early elections on September 25 give as favorites the conservative coalition formed by Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia, and Giorgia Meloni’s far-right Brothers of Italy, and Matteo Salvini’s League.
