Hi everyone, I’m Jonathan, Lead Designer at Streum On Studio. We are a small team made up of passionate FPS and Warhammer 40K fans. We can’t wait for you to get our hands on our most important game yet.
On behalf of the entire team, let me take you through Necromunda, one of the most disgusting places in the galaxy. You’re going to come in with little more than a gun and a dog for company, and lots of people interested in killing you. We want that experience to be the most fun you’ve had in a shooter in years, and the key is agility. Wall run, double jump, swing – they’re all fast, they’re all fun, and they’re all chasing violence and rewards.
Your bounty hunter in Necromunda: Hired Gun, chosen at the beginning of the game, is a tough guy, a loner, and generally fed up with the number of people trying to kill them on a daily basis. The intricate machinations of the universe that have led them to be full of cyber-augmetics mean that there is a wonderful mix of aggression that you must exercise while you hunt for your targets.
Run and shoot
You’re fast. Faster than almost anyone. The fight is a whirlwind of gunfire, close-range executions and bullet dodges. Many of your opponents are trained and ready grunts from their respective houses, but decidedly outgunned. You can run through an arena, jump twice to high places, run along walls to dodge enemy fire, and reach new locations – all beyond the capabilities of your average gang member. Getting in contact with a Hired Gun is usually the last thing that happens to anyone in their path, and you can really feel that through the way you play.
Fighting with victory
A past accident has left this Hired Gun with a variety of body modifications and enhancements. Along with heightened reflexes and a mechanical heart, he now has his own grappling hook arm. This is great for getting into the action, where you are most deadly, as well as for disarming your opponents. It can also be used to traverse levels, making crossing huge chasms and huge towers impossible.
Taking a good boy for a walk
You are not the only one in the field. Your best friend and partner for life, the honorable Cyber Mastiff, is with you on this journey. He’s just as excited about bionics as you are, and just as eager to rid the world of bad guys. He will take shots for you, climb walls with you, and rip your throats when you order him to. He loves treats and is by your side with a squeak of his squeaky toy whenever you want.
Bringing the world to life
As you may have seen in our previous trailer, we’ve put a lot of love into creating our little corner of Necromunda, so there are plenty of reasons to explore. In addition to all the sights, sounds, and luckily the smells of the city, you’ll also fight against and alongside the iconic gangs from the board game Necromunda. Also, Kal Jerico, bounty hunter extraordinaire and the last guy you’d want to trust, is deeply involved in your setbacks and adventures. We won’t spoil anything, but you will see a lot of this particular rogue.
Prepare to enter Hive World Necromunda
With power comes choice, we’re pretty sure the old saying goes. How you play Necromunda: Hired Gun is up to you – there are a host of combat styles to match exactly the kind of violence you want to bring to those who stand in your way. Each member can upgrade, along with their heart, brain, eyes, and more. This is in addition to weapon options that span the length and breadth of the strange and wonderful arsenal of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Combine the two to express yourself on the battlefield.
So brace yourself and get ready for an exciting and violent new experience in the Necromunda universe. Thanks to your cybernetic augmentations, you will run through the darkest corners of the hive city, you will fly with your hook and you will hunt the most famous gangsters together with your cyber mastiff. We hope you enjoy this new adventure in Necromunda: Hired Gun.
Necromunda: Hired Gun is currently available for pre-order with special bonuses and will launch June 1 on PS5 and PS4. The commercial version will be available on June 30.
