Enjoy outdoor movies in Raleigh in the summer

This summer, Cinema in the Square returns to downtown Raleigh with a series of films shown outdoors in Moore Square.

The program includes select Thursdays in July and August that bring families together in community spaces surrounded by culture, entertainment and fun. Admission to the cinema is completely free and open to the public, but food and drink are also available at affordable prices. Square Burger will primarily serve beer and wine.

A co-production of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance and Raleigh Parks, Cinema in the Square is part of an effort to expand downtown’s offering of weekend activities. The four outdoor screenings under the stars of the summer sky are: July 14 – The Lion King – G (1994) July 28 – Black Panther – PG-13 August 11 – Ghostbuster: Afterlife – PG-13 August 25 – Shrek – PG In addition to the films scheduled around 8:30pm, there will be themed pre-show entertainment from 7pm. These include: The Lion King, July 14: Live African drum performances, lion mask crafts and African music Black Panther, July 28: Marvel trivia and costume contest for all ages with prizes and face paint Ghostbusters: Afterlife, August 11: Featuring Raleigh’s ghost story and making your own slime Shrek, August 25: Hero and Dragon Scavenger Hunts and Homemade Dragon Eggs.
