“Encanto” arrives in Mexico on Thursday 25th

LONDON (EFE) .— Set in Colombia, the Disney animated film Encanto, starring a family with fantastic abilities as the protagonist, premiered yesterday in a room in the center of the British capital.

The film, which was supported by the Colombian Embassy in the UK, will hit cinemas in Mexico on November 25th.

“We chose Colombia because of the beauty of the landscape and its familiar feel to it, a country with a rich musical culture,” said the film’s producer, Clark Spencer.

The animation film took more than 5 years to develop, they needed the help of dancers, architects and musicians from Colombia to portray reality as accurately as possible.

One of the special features of this film is the assignment of different Colombian musical styles to each character, which helps the viewer to get more information about the personality of each individual.

The film has an influence of magical realism characterized by adding fantastic elements to a true story while highlighting the use of butterflies at different times to represent the hope of the Colombian people.

The film was directed by Byron Howard, Jared Bush and Charise Castro Smith and has the musical participation of the singer Carlos Vives, author of the song “La bicicleta”.

“Encanto” by Walt Disney Animation Studios tells the story of the madrigals, an extraordinary family that lives hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a pulsating city, in a place called Encanto.

The magic of Encanto has gifted every child in the family with a unique gift, from superpowers to healing powers. All but Mirabel. However, when she discovers that the magic surrounding Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only madrigal without magical powers, could be the last hope of her extraordinary family.
