Chris Hemsworth has been cast as the action star in the family. The role now belongs to his wife, Elsa Pataky, but she is the first to admit that her Marvel star husband helped her new role as an action star.
The 45-year-old Spanish model and actress spoke to ET’s Matt Cohen about the intense training she underwent for her action film. interceptor, which arrives on Netflix on June 3. For starters, Pataki took a grueling muscle-building training session six months before filming the first scene.
Hemsworth, who knows a thing or two about intense physical training, enlisted the help of Pataky, who also had to memorize some 800 stunt moves for the film.
“Yeah, it was tough,” Pataki admits. “Ever since I read the script, I wanted to get into the physicality that these military women [go through], From that moment I was like, ‘I just want to build muscle and just start working out.’ Of course, Chris was holding my hand because he knows and he’s done it before, so he had a lot of advice for me.”
Pataki said she changed her diet and underwent the same training that women take in the military.
“We were working maybe for an hour and a half every day and then we started preparing for the film,” she said. “We just started getting into all those fights, which is like three hours a day, four months before the movie. We were, like, learning all those movies every day. It’s like this choreography that you have to go through. Is.”
Despite grueling sessions, Pataky couldn’t get enough. She also thoroughly enjoyed the fact that her stunt double and stunt coordinator were also women, which Pataky said “helped a lot ’cause it gives you the sense that women approach fights differently.”
Pataky plays JJ Collins, a tough military captain who finds himself in charge of a lonely nuclear missile interceptor base in the middle of the Pacific Ocean after he is unfairly fired from his dream job at the Pentagon. Is. Luke Bracey also stars in the film as Alexander Kessel, a dishonest former US military intelligence officer who intends to execute an unimaginable plan in coordination with his secret mercenaries. Hemsworth serves as the film’s executive producer.
For Pataki, her 10-year-old daughter, Bharat, it was important to see women who, as Pataky says, “kick-ass” in films as well. Pataki shares India and 8-year-old twin sons, Sasha and Tristan, with Hemsworth.
“At home, Chris is the action man,” says Pataky, who played Officer Elena Neves in several fast and furious movies. “So, it was nice to show both. Especially my daughter. She was so shocked when she saw the trailer and said, ‘Wow mom, can you do that?’ they think they had the idea to like [the action star] Being a father So, showing that women are capable too, of not only being a mom and taking you to school but also kicking ass.”
