Elliot Page Is Back There, And He’s Getting A Little Help Umbrella AcademyRitu Arya. The 35-year-old actor shared a picture of himself in a bed next to Arya on his Instagram story, in what can be seen is Page’s cell phone. He captioned the story, saying, “@rituarya guiding me on my first dating app.”
The sign up page for the dating app comes nearly 18 months after he filed for divorce from Emma Portner after three years of marriage. A month before that, Portner publicly shared her support for Page after she came out as transgender. “I’m so proud of @elliotpage,” Portner wrote on Instagram, along with a screenshot of the page’s statement. “Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world.”
“I also ask for patience and privacy, but you join me in your enthusiastic support of Trans Life every day,” she added. “Elliot’s existence is a gift in itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”
Umbrella Academy Producer and showrunner Steve Blackman recently shared exclusively with ET how he crafted the transformation of Page’s character on the show. For starters, Blackman said that writing Victor’s transition was not done at Page’s request. He said the decision was based on what felt creatively and narratively right.
“I had already finished the season, the writers had left, the script was finished and I got a call from Elliot one day saying, ‘I’m transitioning.’ I was so happy for him,” Blackman told ET. “To his credit, he didn’t demand that I write it in the story. He said, ‘Do whatever you want. I trust you. Write it, don’t write it, whatever you want to do.’ Elliot is very kind.”
“Eventually, I decided to write it, but to be honest, I didn’t know much about being transgender and I didn’t know how to tell a story,” he admitted. Blackman contacted GLAAD Media Institute vice president and transgender rights advocate Nick Adams and transgender author/journalist Thomas Page McBee for guidance. ,[Thomas has] The experience carried through and he became my guide,” Blackman credited. “In collaboration with Elliot, he talked to me about what it means to be trans, what it means to be trans, what it feels like and how to tell a story. Have to tell.”
When he received the script for the new scenes for the second episode of Season 3, Page said Blackman liked it.
“I just sent the pages to Elliot and I said, ‘What do you think?’ And she said, ‘They are beautiful.’ He had some ideas and that was it,” Blackman said. “He was so kind to me, he didn’t make any demands on him. He just said, ‘Make up the story you want to tell,’ and he was really amazing. You can’t get better as a listener, As a writer, from someone like that.”
