Drew Barrymore has never been shy about speaking out about her dating life, even though it was difficult for the actress-turned-talk-show host to get back on the dating scene.
ET’s Nischelle Turner spoke to Barrymore about dating as a mother of two daughters and what it was like to have them strange eye Guys help her out of there.
“Things don’t magically fall from the sky onto your lap. We all need to get proactive in our lives and I was worried about ever doing anything virtual, the dating apps. It’s been as hard for me as it has been for most people, but I’m willing to gain insights into what’s going on in me and in my life,” Barrymore told ET. “Because maybe it’s not about the apps or the state of the world. I’d like to figure out my side of the road and things will work out after that.”
“It was like The Drew Barrymore Show x strange eye x Modern Love of the New York Times. I feel like this episode is sort of a love letter to what it’s like in the modern world,” Barrymore said of the guys she was preparing for her Zoom date with top chefis Sam Talbot.
“It was a zoom date that happens on the show because Sam is in Los Angeles and can’t fly and I’m in New York and can’t fly and I was like, ‘Wow, that doesn’t feel very romantic . ‘ said the 46-year-old Charlie’s Angel actress explained. “And then I thought, ‘Wow, that’s exactly what most people need to do,’ because that’s on the menu for most people.”
While the process was healing for Barrymore, working with the Fab 5 was also fun.
“It was so much fun,” she gushed. “I had Jonathan [Van Ness] Hold up silly questions and naughty signs that make me giggle. I had tan [France] say, “Hey, I notice something over there,” ask him about it. I had Antony [Porowski] Tell me, “You’re doing a good job, and I had said to Bobby, ‘Hey, I see plants and dogs, see how he’s a janitor,’ so it was, like any person. I feel like I’m on her show.”
It looks like the group’s efforts have paid off as well, as Barrymore told ET that she and Talbot have been communicating and even discussed potentially meeting up with IRL.
“We texted,” Barrymore revealed. “Well, I mean, that just happened. We were brave enough to say, ‘Should we meet on another forum?’ And that’s how we keep the communication alive, which is really exciting and that’s quite enough for now, and I think we’ll figure out what our next step is.”
