Drake joins the Backstreet Boys onstage for ‘I Want It That Way’ performance

Drake and the Backstreet Boys might just have become the collab we never knew we needed. Dizzy joined BSB on stage on Saturday night during the group’s DNA World Tour stop in the rapper’s hometown of Toronto, Canada, to help them perform their hit “I Want It That Way.”

But before lending his vocals to one of the group’s most iconic songs, Drake explains why the late ’90s hold such a special place in his heart.

After BSB introduced Drake as the “sixth member” of the boyband, the “Tex Go Green” rapper hit the Budweiser stage in Toronto to share that he had a crush on a girl when he was 13. It was someone he knew but wasn’t sure the feelings were mutual until their bar mitzvah, when the girl came up to him and asked him to dance to none other than Backstreet’s “I Want It That Way”.

Drake, who put the song “one of the greatest songs of all time”, said the moment was the first time in his life that he felt “he had a shot at being cool.”

Fans got a treat when Drake sang along to the song with BSB, and even busted out some of his signature boy band dance moves.

Drake and the Backstreet Boys both shared excerpts from the performance on Instagram, with the boy band writing, “What is better than I want it that way? I want it that way… f/ @champagnepapi #BSBTO #DNAWORLDTOUR.”

Toronto is the latest stop on BSB’s DNA World Tour, which will see them play in 83 cities until March 2023 – including international stops in Mexico City, Vancouver, London, Berlin, Sydney, Amsterdam and Barcelona.

Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson sit down with ET’s Cassie DiLaura for the start of their world tour at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in April, where they talk about bringing back nostalgia. I talked. His fans, many of whom are now adults, are eager to remember their childhoods when they come to a BSB concert.

“The Backstreet Boys represent a special place in time with nostalgic music and it makes people happy,” Nick said. “And so, I look forward to being back out there and giving just a little bit of happiness to everyone’s life.”

“Once we get on stage, I think it’s just the reaction and smiling faces and people singing songs,” Bryan said.
