Da Bratt and his new wife, Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart, may still be in their honeymoon phase four months after the wedding of their dreams, but they’re ready to move on to the next stage – motherhood! ET spoke to the newlyweds ahead of the premiere of the second season of their reality series, brat loves judyAnd the couple shared details on their “stressful” wedding day, motherhood journey and being loud during Pride Month.
Although the 48-year-old rapper said he’s looking forward to giving fans a look at his wedding plans, he admitted that the actual day was “tough”.
“I thought because it’s such a wonderful and glorious day, wonderful and beautiful and all these wonderful things, that it would be easy,” she recalled. “It wasn’t that easy. A lot of things went away. People weren’t doing what they should have been doing, they weren’t where they should have been, and that puts a strain on people who are getting married.”
The couple, who got married on February 22, planned their extravagant wedding in nine days. The short deadline doubled the general chaos that comes with wedding planning. In a previously released glimpse of Season 2, fans get a glimpse of the obstacles the two face before saying “I do”.
At the beginning of the clip, the rapper is in the studio — and it doesn’t look like she’s making a love song. “I never want to lose you, we must make it work. Get the f**k out of my house and get out now,” she raps. In another scene, when Judy asks if she can listen to the new single, Da Brat announces that it is about her.
Things get more heated as the couple appears during the wedding dress fitting. As the “FunkadaFeed” rapper stands up in a dress during the fitting, Judy asks, “Are we doing that? Aren’t we?”
Dr. Bratt wiped his eyes with tears and said, “I don’t know.”
Judy explained that their hesitation was not about getting married, but with the time frame they were working with. “I don’t think it was questioning whether it was the right choice,” he elaborated. “I guess maybe it was questioning whether it was the right time because there was a date I put on earth. But then he got his back tattooed.”
Da Bratt noted that she got the tattoo 2/22/22 after Judy “was how important the date was to us and how important it was to our relationship.”
“It’s never going to happen again. We’re twin flames. So, I mean, I had to meet that date,” she said.
Those elements added a sense of urgency to their plans that led to tension. It didn’t help that they were also struggling to stay within their budget, with the couple sharing that they spent almost $50,000 more than budget on flowers.
“I told her that if we didn’t make that date, we could have done something special on that date. We didn’t have to get married that day because it was tattooed on my back,” da Brat sure adds. “There are so many other special things in life that we can do together to celebrate that date.”
But the two managed to complete their perfect ceremony, and now they are enjoying the honeymoon phase while learning a new normal as wives. This leads them to the next big step in their relationship – growing their family.
“When we started discussing it, we didn’t realize how many different obstacles could get in the way,” Judy said of her family planning. “We’re excited. We’re very excited to be where we stand today. But there are some odds that we haven’t been open with social media or anyone for health reasons. But we’re excited and have a lot of this season covered. Is.”
In January, the couple announced on social media that they were hoping for a new addition With a photo of da Brat standing behind Judy and holding her then-fiancé’s belly as they pose for a mirror selfie. While they would not reveal the story behind the picture, they did share that the experience has helped them know what kind of parents they want to be.
“It’s going to be [Da Brat’s] first rodeo [and] “She’s already ‘Rah Rah’,” Judy said. And she’s going to flip the furniture, everything.”
His wife reported that she had learned to control her anger thanks to anger management, but agreed that she would only like people who were close to their children. “It’s going to be like his mom or my mom or my godmother or my aunt,” she said. “It’s going to be people who are so close to us that we trust that we’ve seen them handle kids. It’s going to be a lot of people who want to help. So we’re going to be great.”
It has been a long journey for the couple. Da Brat confirmed that she was in a relationship – and came out – in emotional post In March 2020, after Judy presented a white Bentley for her birthday.
Judy recalled their ‘coming out’, saying, “We had a lot of discussion before this happened because I don’t want anyone to go back and regret anything because they did it for one person.”
She continued, “I just wanted to make sure she was only doing it for her personal reasons. She just kept saying, ‘Because I love you.’ I’m like, ‘It must be for your personal reasons.’ Since then, she has been living loudly and loving the fact that she can do whatever she wants, where she wants because previously she didn’t hold hands in public or anything. But now she just doesn’t give sh*t. ,
It’s a freedom Da Brat said he learned from his partner. The rapper shared, “I’m so happy to be free.” “It’s a different feeling to live for yourself and in your truth and have it as opposed to trying to hide it for a record label or so you don’t lose your career or you can’t tell the people you love.” or who do you love.”
“I’m so glad she has the guts. I was watching her live out loud, like ‘Sh*t, I want to live louder too,'” she said. “So, it’s like lifting a load, really. It’s the best feeling. And I wish everyone could feel like me. And I wish people had let it go already. Let us be free. We Love the one you love. If the world can be happy with what they love, it can be a safer place, you know?”
