'CSI: Vegas': Matt Lauria on Helgenberger's Way Back to Season 2 (Exclusive)

CSI: Vegas Two favorites, William Peterson’s Gil Grissom and Jorja Fox’s Sarah Siddle, return for their first season, and when the sophomore installment rolls around, the route will bring Helgenberger’s darling CSI The character, Katherine Willow, in the field. The CBS update, which brings the action back to where it all began, follows a new Crime Lab team headed by Maxine Robbie (Paula Newsom) as they solve cases using forensic science.

“We are really lucky to have him back and personally, I am very happy,” CSI: Vegas Star Matt Lauria, who plays investigator Josh Folsom, told ET Tuesday while promoting the season 1 DVD/Blu-ray release of the series. “I would have been deeply excited even though I personally had no experience with the route. But I am more excited because … my experience of her is that she is just a perfect class act, very generous, very real person. “

Lauria guest starred in a handful of episodes of CSI As an FBI agent from 2011–12 and had the opportunity to work closely with Helgenberger. “She was so kind and inclusive and just lovely. And she’s very, very talented. She shines,” he recalled. “So, for me personally, I can’t wait. I’m really excited.”

bring in Catherine CSI: Vegas The world will likely add a new dynamic to the team’s inner workings, he predicted.

Lauria added, “That role is so iconic and she’s been such a huge presence on the show for so long — 12 seasons. And besides, she’s a really interesting character, having been around Vegas for so long.” Is.” “Even in season one we talked about him at the casino. Story-wise, he’s still involved and he’s still in the mix. So I think it’ll be really interesting [layer], He is a very powerful, very influential person in this environment. She will come with a lot of pride as a character.”

“For [the team]Of course, we know very well who he is. He’s responsible for our facilities,” he said, noting that Josh and Katherine share some connecting threads and common traits that can make for an interesting partnership. “We have a similar background. We can come from similar stock. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. I can’t really reveal too much, but I hope there’s something out there.”

It’s still early days in the writers’ room as showrunner Jason Tracy and the team kicked off Season 2, but Lauria shared that she recently met with the writers where she learned bits and pieces of what’s to come.

“I got a virtual meeting in the writers’ room two weeks ago, something like that; it was a little shy of 15 minutes. They’re working hard, they’re moving forward and this is their chance to get there in their early days. The writing process and just say hello, get to know everyone,” revealed Lauria.

“Jason talks about some ideas I probably can’t talk about, other than to say, if fans who watch the show are doing their job.” CSI As the sleuth works, they’ll gather lots of clues about where Josh may have come from. Moving into the second season, I think we’ll start to learn more about it and see how the past can collide with Josh’s present — whether literally or just figuratively — to see what happens. How may past influences and experiences in his life affect the balance of where he is now,” he teased.

And if the Season 1 finale cliffhanger that pointed to a serial killer wreaking massive havoc in Las Vegas is any indication, in an upcoming chapter. CSI The universe is about to get even more dramatic.

“I have my own thoughts on this man,” Lauria said when asked about the final images. “I hope this is where I think it plays out. It sounds like a serial killer-type person, someone who has his own motive. All that weird white stuff and stuff scattered on the wall.” And all that stuff, I’m really excited to see where they take it.”
