After the pandemic, marjorie desousa and his son matias they decided that they would give people an injection of happiness and tenderness. How? “I told Mati: ‘And if we record another song? We have to make a song that makes people happy,'” recalls the Venezuelan who a year ago sang a version of the Christmas carol “Mi burrito sabanero” with her offspring. “He says to me: ‘Yes, yes'”.
That’s how they formed a duet in a studio in Mexico and performed a new version with salsa rhythms of “Santa Claus came to town.” “This song for my son and [para mí] it is union, it is hugging, meeting again, loving each other more”, De Sousa confesses, adding with a laugh, “Mati tells me: ‘[Para] make people less grumpy.”
And more tolerant too. “It was very nice. In the end [de la canción] there is a message that Matías came up with to record: ‘Remember not to make fun of others, we are all special, not to judge others,'” De Sousa stresses in a broken voice, who proudly extols the emotional maturity of her firstborn, the fruit of of his relationship with the also actor Julian Gil.
“I heard it and I began to cry in silence and… Mati was also crying. It was a very important message because sometimes everyone forgets [que] we are all special. We judge others and we don’t know what happens in each home.”
Being empathetic and many other lessons are what the blonde has learned with her Mati. “He is the best companion that God put me on my way, the best teacher. I appreciate everything in my life to be able to reach my son,” says the 42-year-old artist. “We support foundations and bring food to animals to a shelter. We donate food to some tigers. [Me dice:] “Mommy, I want to help.” She’s always up for things.”
Not only to help unprotected animals, but also children who have not had the same luck as him. “We went to a children’s home one Christmas and Matías gives the toys in hand to each of the children and we invite the little ones to his birthday,” says the proud mother. “For him it is very special to share with them, because he knows that for some reason they are children who do not have a family.”
Although he is only 5 years old, Matías already has a busy schedule between traveling, horse riding, taking music classes and accompanying his mother to work. “We are very good friends, we are comrades. If I have to go on a trip, it’s immediately: ‘I want to go with you.’ “He likes karate, he loves painting, music, he really likes horses.”
Actor in sight? “He says that he is not going to be an artist but that if he appears on television it is because he is going to be the next Mexican Formula 1 champion, the one who is going to replace Sergio Michel “Checo” PerezDe Sousa says with a laugh. I’m going to support him like they supported me.”
In fact, the support of his mother Gloria Rivas is still vital for the protagonist of telenovelas like the soulless Y on the other side of the wall, she helps the blonde when she is working on forums. “The truth is, my mother has been a key piece with us; Mati adores her,” says the protagonist of Countwho in addition to enjoying the love of his son and his mother, is also full of his relationship with the Mexican businessman vincent uribe. “My heart is full of love, calm, peace, harmony and pure beautiful things. I feel very grateful.”
And that is why the actress exclusively told People in spanish all the details of his closing of the year where, of course, he will wait together with his son for Santa Claus to arrive in his city.
It is the second Christmas song that you sing with Matías. How did the idea of recording the song “Santa Claus Came to Town” come about?
Christmas in my case and for Matías is also very important. Since he was very young, his emotion every time he sees the lights… is the date that represents something very important. We decided to do “[Mi] burrito sabanero”, the first song, because it is a Christmas classic and it is very popular in my country. Mati always lived it singing with me. This year after everything we have gone through at the pandemic level and all the things that are happening I told Mati: “What if we record another song? We have to make a song that makes people happy. “He tells me: ‘Yes, yes.’
It was very nice. At the end there is a message that Matías had the idea to record: ‘Remember not to make fun of others, we are all special, do not judge others’. I heard it and I started to cry in silence and when I see that the producer and a friend who recorded me were crying and then Mati was crying too. It was a very important message because sometimes everyone forgets [que] we are all special. We judge others and we don’t know what happens in each home.
This song for my son and [para mí] it’s union, it’s hugging, meeting again, loving each other more. Mati tells me: ‘[Para] make people less grumpy’. At the end of it all, the world we are creating is for [los hijos].
I think we have to try to improve every day. We must be grateful for everything we are, everything we have.
Was it recorded in a studio?
If with Gabriel C., with whom I already did several songs. It was very important to do this, which is something that my son will be able to show his children and his grandchildren. we decided to invite [para el video] to his best friends from Miami. They are the children of my best friend from school in Venezuela. [El video] it was very nice. I thank all my team that played with me because this was from one day to the next. To my manager, my publicist, my stylist —my makeup artist acted as a producer— my brother, my sister-in-law. We got a Santa that you don’t know how wonderful. It was the most exact thing. When I saw him I wanted to hug him. Everything was so beautiful, we recorded it quickly. It is something with a lot of color, very lively, we recorded [el video en la tienda]The Christmas Palace, in Miami. Hope you like. It was wonderful.
From what you tell me, Matías is a very mature boy.
Awesome. Matías is a character, he says that he doesn’t want to be an artist. He is the best companion that God put me on the road, the best teacher. I appreciate everything in my life to be able to reach my son. It is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. We are a great team, not because he is my son… he adapts to everything, he goes with me to record. [El niño me dice:] I want to be with you, I want to be with you close. [Yo] I tell him: ‘I have to go to work, I’m going to be in the forum’, and he tells me: ‘It doesn’t matter, I stay in the dressing room but I have you close’. And sometimes he goes with me.
We are very good friends, we are comrades. If I have to go on a trip, it’s immediately: ‘I want to go with you’. If I can ask permission at school I’ll take it. We are inseparable.
He has a very nice personality. He is a child who understands a lot, he is a very light child who gets along with everyone, he helps. He has beautiful feelings.
Every year at this time we go to a foster home and we are going to give toys or food and that for Mati and me has been very important because we have to be thankful for everything that God gives us. God has been quite generous with our family. How can we thank God? Well, doing positive things.
It’s been, I don’t know how to explain… it’s been a very hard road but at the same time so beautiful and I tell it and it makes me want to cry. [Digo:] ‘My God, I can’t say more than thank you.’ There are things that happened in our lives so beautiful.
Do you want to follow your steps?
He says no. He obviously takes music classes and it’s amazing how he learns the songs. I look at it and I’m like, ‘Wow.’ He listens to a song and already knows it. With the instruments he is very good and he grabs the rhythms of the songs and dances them as is. You put Rock And Roll and a merengue and he dances them impressively.
He says that he is not going to be an artist but that if he appears on television it is because he is going to be the next Mexican Formula 1 champion, the one who will replace Sergio Michel “Checo” Perez” (laughs).
What do you share the most as mother and son?
We love to travel. Matías and I, it’s hilarious, wherever they tell us ‘Let’s go’. We are very much to be with animals, [de ayudar] to the puppies of the street.
We are to support foundations and bring food to animals to a shelter. We donate food to some tigers. [Me dice:] “Mommy, I want to help.” She is always wanting to do things.
We went to a children’s home one Christmas and Matías gives the toys in hand to each of the children and we invite the little ones to their birthdays. It is very special for him to share with them, because he knows that for some reason they are children who do not have a family.
He likes karate, he loves to paint, music, he really likes horses.
If it is in my hands to open his panorama and that he can develop as much as he can, let him do it. I will support him as they supported me.
Who helps you when you are working? Your mom?
Thank God my mom helps me super. It is very hard to divide all times and the truth is that my mother has helped me a lot. Without her I would not have been able to do my projects and take care of my house. The truth is that my mother has been a key piece with us. Mati adores her and now that I have just finished Count She helps me with school issues, going to pick him up, going to drop him off. If she has an extra class, she takes it.
If I see that I leave or have a recess, I go for him. If I can take it to the forum with me, I’ll take it. Every night I plan everything.
What can we expect in Count? Are you going to make Ana Brenda cry?
You are going to be surprised because this character is going to make you cry because of how beautiful he is; he is a noble character. He is a character that you will fall in love with. The cast is wow, it’s impressive.
What projects will we see you in in 2023?
In January I’m going to Guadalajara to record some things. I have a proposal to do theater, there are proposals for a series.
How is your heart?
My heart is full of love, calm, peace, harmony and pure beautiful things. I feel very grateful and very happy with Marjorie, with everything I have achieved and that despite anything, she gets up again and continues there. I applaud her and tell her that I love her immensely.
What will they do for Christmas and New Years?
I have the blessing that after a long time, I will have my family reunited. We will be with my brother, my friends, my mother and my son and we will go with my family.
