Camila Cabello Says She’s ‘So Self Conscious’ in Bikini: ‘I Can’t Relax’

The pop star commented that her ‘culture image’ of how a woman looks like ‘isn’t entirely real to a lot of women.’

Camelaca below took to Instagram on Saturday (April 2) to reveal that she is “self-conscious” about wearing bikinis in public because of the “unreal” images of women in today’s culture. “I reminded myself when it affected my self-esteem that I was thinking about culture’s views, not my own,” she wrote. “A culture that has become so used to an image of what a ‘healthy’ woman’s body looks like is not entirely real to a lot of women.”

After prepping for a beach day in Miami with a new bikini and “the whole f**king cute outfit,” Camilla said she couldn’t enjoy herself because she was “so self-conscious.” She continued: “I couldn’t let go and relax and do whatever we want to do when we go out in nature.” Despite knowing she “looked good” and thinking she’d feel “complete,” the Grammy-nominated star admitted that she “never had a bad time at the beach.”

“I felt the emptiness and sadness of the ideas of my culture that became my thoughts,” Camilla continued. “I wanted to talk about this because we see pictures of women and praise them for looking good, not looking fit or “healthy,” but what is health if you’re so fixated on it?
What does your body look like affects your mental health and you can’t enjoy your life?”

She continued: “Who am I trying to look attractive to and am I even more attractive to myself if I can’t let loose and relax and have fun and play on a beautiful day at the beach? just not at the point in my journey where i can’t give af**k intellectually i know what i look like
It doesn’t determine how healthy, happy or sexy I am.”

Camilla ends her message by saying that “all the healing, all the inner work” she’s been doing to make her feel like she was “7 years old” on the beach: “Happy, silly, Breathtaking, pretending to be a mermaid. Free.”
