Cameron Diaz has been talking candidly about her decision to step away from acting at the peak of her career. during an interview with CBS Mornings, Dana Jacobson, Diaz share the reason behind their eight-year hiatus.
“When you’re doing something you know and you’ve done well and you know how it works and it’s eaten up your whole life for so long, that’s a good thing,’ You know what? Let me step back for just a second, take a look at what the whole picture looks like for me and what are the things that I could have done better and more connectedness to it would make me feel more whole.’ And so did I,” Diaz explained.
The 49-year-old actress’ last role before her hiatus was as Miss Hannigan in the 2014 film musical Annie, When asked if she misses the acting world, Diaz admitted that she misses the craft.
“I mean, I miss the aspects of acting, or making movies,” she shared. “Yes, making movies is a special skill that is fun to exercise and be a part of. But yes, it is a different lifestyle and you have to be prepared for it.”
Diaz is ready to return to that limelight. Earlier this month, it was announced that she would star alongside Annie Jamie Foxx to co-star in the upcoming Netflix film. This will be his first role in nearly a decade.
The actress’s return to work means she will have to pursue her career and parenting her husband Benji Madden’s daughter, Radix, who turns three in December.
“Everyone only has 100 percent and you always have to figure out how you’re going to divide that 100 percent to spread it to all the parts of your life that matter,” Diaz told work and home life. Talk about balancing.
When asked if motherhood has changed her, the actress said, “Yes, definitely.”
About what she loves most about motherhood, Diaz shared, “God, I think just being able to, you know, has an impact on a child’s development. All moms have that. There’s the moment where you’re looking at your baby and they’re doing something for the first time, and you’re like, ‘I remember doing that.’ it is really good.”
