Bollywood superstar Raj Kumar was born in Balochistan. Some people know that his real name was Kulbhushan Pandit. After completing his graduation, Raj Kumar started working as a sub-inspector in Bombay. Once filmmaker Baldev Dubey came to the police station for some work, he was so impressed with Raj Kumar’s talking style that he offered him for his next film ‘Shahi Bazaar’.
Raj Kumar also quit his job to become a hero. Then in 1952 he got a chance to work in the film ‘Rangeili’. After this film, he continued to do whatever character he found. Meanwhile, Raj Kumar acted in many films like ‘Krishna Sudama’, ‘Ghamand’, but none were successful. Then in the year 1957, he got recognition in the film industry with the superhit film Mother India.
He then appeared in the 1959 film Paigam opposite Dilip Kumar. His superb performance in this film was appreciated by all. In 1965, BR Chopra’s film ‘Waqt’ changed the life of Raj Kumar. People still remember the dialogues of this film. After this film, Raj Kumar never looked back in his career.
After the film ‘Waqt’, Raj Kumar gave many superhit films like ‘Tiranga’, ‘Saudagar’, ‘Pakiza’, ‘Heer Ranjha’, ‘Neil Kamal’, ‘Dil Apna Aur Parai’, ‘Hamraaz’. Raj Kumar married an Anglo Indian girl named Jennifer who was an airhostess. Raj Kumar met Jennifer during a visit. After marriage, Jennifer changed her name to Gayatri.
