Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have date night on the Met Gala red carpet. On Monday, the couple made an appearance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, looking glamorous and fabulous — and Lively even underwent a costume change on the main stages.
This year’s Met Gala coincides with the second part of the Costume Institute’s exhibition, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” controversial subject “Gilded Glamor and White Tie.” The concept is a tribute to the United States’ gilded era, an era of extreme economic growth and major industrialization, as well as massive income inequality, political upheaval, and post-Civil War racism.
Lively and Reynolds kept the theme right, with Reynolds wearing a classic tuxedo—which included a striking gold pocket watch—and Lively rocking an outfit that started out as a shimmery, copper Art Deco gown , which was created by Versace.
Then, after a few quick adjustments, the gown changed to a mix of metallic copper and a pale green copper patina.
Speaking with ET’s Rachel Smith on the red carpet, Lively — who also rocked Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Christian Louboutin — spoke about her inspiration for the ensemble’s general design.
“I looked to New York City architecture for this event, and I loved the copper patinas,” she shared. “I asked Versace if we could do that and he said, ‘Oh my god, well, let’s try!’ And we did.”
The change was quick, and there was a surprising enthusiasm from the crowd.
The couple co-chair the grand event with Oscar winner Regina King and actor, composer and director Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Designer Tom Ford, Instagram head Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s artistic director and global editorial director the trend, Also co-chaired the 2022 event after Part One last September in america a demonstration.
Lively’s last Met Gala appearance was in 2018, where the star went solo as her husband was in Madrid, Spain, for a deadpool 2 photocall simple favors The actress had no problem taking the carpet off herself. Lively wore a stunning regal Atelier Versace gown with sheer paneling on either side, which was teamed with over $2 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
And similar to some other fabulous Met Gala looks, Lively honored the year’s theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” with a Crown headpiece. And, a true testament to the attention to detail of the ensemble, her hair was actually dyed to match her outfit by Lucaro Salon hairstylist Ronna O’Connor.
