‘Bachelor’ Clayton Echard on his emotional journey and weeps many tears this season (exclusive)

Clayton Echard is more than ready for Bachelor Fans to see his journey to love.

The 28-year-old made his Bachelor Nation debut as a suitor on Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette. He sparked rumors of his casting as the next lead role afterward E! posted photos of a man who resembled him while filming what appeared to be a promotional shoot for the show outside a house in his Missouri homeland. ABC officially confirmed Echard as the next bachelor’s degree at the end of Young’s hometown dates.

Although the announcement was met a little scared of the fans, Young had nothing but good things to say about her ex when she spoke to ET before the official news.

“I think Clayton is just so wonderful, deserves to be found,” she said. “… He’s all in the opening. He’s all in the vulnerability, so I think he’ll make the most of it.”

Echard is looking forward to showing the doubting fans what he’s made of. “I think people – a lot of people – are asking, ‘Who is this guy? What will he bring with him? ‘ Everyone will see, “he told ET Denny Directo.” My personality, it will all come out and I’m ready to just see it. ”

The orthopedics sales rep said he’s also excited to see the parts of the season he wasn’t privy to, including how his suitors behave when he wasn’t around.

“This is going to be a whole new side of it, the one I’m going to see for the first time,” he remarked. “I’ve been told a lot, but now I’m going to find out who told the real story. This is going to be fun and, who knows, maybe quick to the WOmen say everything and maybe I have a few questions for some people. I’ll say, ‘Hey, I didn’t see the way you said that.’ “

Fans saw a few glimpses of the potential drama Echard was referring to in the first look of his season that aired in November. In the preview, participants dance back and forth and toss insults like “wrong” and “two faces” before a woman tells another to “keep my name out of your fucking mouth”.

This is followed by lots of sobs and hugs from Echard that make the Bachelor get angry: “She screwed it up for everyone. I’m done. It’s over. I’m just so broken.”

“Those were real tears,” said Echard when asked about the emotional promo. “It was tough and I cried far more tears than I thought I would cry. I experienced a lot more emotions than I thought I would feel, but that was my journey and I only got it after Navigated to the best of my ability and based on what came my way. “

Explaining that part of his excitement about seeing his journey on screen comes from knowing that it is “100 percent authentic … and I can never take that away”.

Another preview clip teased the intense drama Echard faces when it comes to his last three decisions. The Bachelor admits in front of the cameras: “I didn’t believe it could happen, but I’m in love with three women.”

He goes on to say to one woman, “I couldn’t be more certain that I am falling in love with you,” another that he is falling in love with you, and to a third, “I am in love with you.”

Everything seems to come to a head at a rose ceremony when Echard confesses to two women, “I just want you to know that what I am about to say is not going to be easily heard transparently, and I know it is not easy to hear but I was intimate with both of you. “

When the women are predictably devastated to the news, the preview ends with Echard holding an engagement ring when he says it’s so “broken”.

The moment “did not go so well,” Echard told ET.

“These are real people with real emotions and I knew it wouldn’t be easy to get around, I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy conversation at all. But I’m someone who believes in transparency and as a human being will see when this plays … It’ll all be explained as soon as it airs, “he added.

“I’ve done what I thought was best. I’m not someone who likes to push off conflict,” he added. “For example, if something comes up, I will address it when it comes up.”

But the process paid off for Echard, who confirmed that he found love while performing on Good morning America earlier this month.

“I was a little skeptical when I started the whole trip, but I’m so pleasantly surprised that things turned out very differently from what I thought,” he revealed. “Again, I’m just so excited to see it again and for everyone else to see it too.”

Echard told ET that although he went into the season with “a few check boxes” for what he was looking for in a potential mate, he realized he needed to change his approach when “a majority” of women proved they were right ticked a path.

“I quickly realized that I can either try to find more checkboxes or just [be] I’m glad I already have all of these incredible women. “Just let me get to know each of them and see who I feel most about.” So that’s how I did it. I just let my feelings take over, “he explained.

He still had two deal breakers in mind, including “someone who is impatient” and someone who “won’t listen”. He stated that communication was important to him and said that he was looking for a “lifelong partnership” and these qualities are necessary in order to communicate and work towards it.

“If I ever see someone who just doesn’t embody these qualities, I just think to myself, ‘I don’t see it working,'” he noted.

Fortunately, at the end of his season, Echard found what he was looking for. Though shyly avoiding any further clues about his current relationship, the sales rep said he was “overall” “very happy, very blessed” after his Bachelor Experience.

“I’ve learned so much about myself and I believe that makes me a better person and that’s why I don’t regret it,” he said. “I could sit here and look at you and say that I am very happy and grateful and all that I have found will be closed. So everyone has to wait and find out what it looks like. “

Clayton’s season of The bachelor, hosted by Jesse Palmer, is due to premiere on Monday January 3rd on ABC.
