TORONTO (EFE) .— Michael Bublé, who has just released a special edition of his Christmas album “Christmas”, confesses his passion for buddies, the Christmas holidays and his Argentine family, including his “change” of nationality: “Now I’m Argentine!”

Bublé is relaxed and happy in the interview, alternating English with Spanish and serious conversation with jokes. The four Grammy Award-winning artist, who is married to Argentine actress and singer Luisana Lopilato, with whom he has three children, admits that the Christmas holidays are “a very sentimental and emotional” moment for him.

On the occasion of the ten-year anniversary of his album “Christmas”, which has sold millions of copies so far, Bublé is immersed in a round of interviews and has become a classic of the Christmas holidays.

For the anniversary he has just released a special edition of the album with seven new recordings, including a cover of “Let It Snow” and the new song “The Christmas Sweater”.

The 46-year-old artist explains that he “carefully” selected the songs on the new album from all of his favorites from previous recordings.

“I really wanted things that upset me but didn’t hear me. Because it’s a very special year because it’s the tenth anniversary of this Christmas album, ”he continues.

Over time, “Christmas”, on which other artists such as Shania Twain, Mariah Carey and Thalía participated, became Bublé’s most successful album and one of the best-selling in the world in the 21st century.

“It has remained part of the culture over the years. Memes included! “, Laughs Bublé, for whom it is also an” honor “that his name is equated with this time of year when” people are friendlier “and life is viewed through the eyes of children”.

Throughout the interview, Bublé shows his devotion to his family and his growing acceptance of Argentine culture to the point that he declares that he drinks mate everywhere he goes.

“I love mates,” says the singer in English, before turning to Spanish with an Argentine accent: “You know, when you have an Argentine wife, mate is life.”

But he doesn’t forget his Canadian origins and continues to wonder why Mate is drunk between several people.

“I see (the buddy) move from one person to another and eventually it reaches me and I think, ‘With the Covid, it’s not very good.’ I like the taste as well as the social aspect, ”he says with a smile.

He also admits how much he enjoys speaking Spanish and how proud he is, even though he sounds “like a caveman” and does not conjugate verbs well.

“I love my wife so much and it was so important to me to assimilate her culture and live in Argentina that I now understand and speak a little Spanish,” admits the singer, who also jokes when he remembers how now, when his in-laws bothers him, can understand anything. Bublé doesn’t resist and jokes about the cultural differences between Argentina and Canada. “I usually tell my wife that Argentina is more dangerous than Canada,” he recalls.

“When I go out with my friends, I’ll finish by midnight. She goes out until 11 a.m. And then he’s there until 5 a.m. It’s crazy, ”he concludes, amused.

The Bublé-Lopilato family made special arrangements to celebrate Christmas, too, in the Canadian way, on the morning of the 25th, but also in Argentina to celebrate Christmas Eve. The album “Christmas” is available on platforms.
