Pat Carroll, the 95-year-old veteran actress, known for giving her voice to the character of Úrsula in The little Mermaid from Disneyand whose career as an entertainer spanned seven decades, died this Saturday, July 30, in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, while recovering from pneumonia.
Carroll’s death was confirmed by her representative, Derek Maki, who said that Carroll died with her best friend by her side.
Born on May 5, 1927, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Patricia Ann Carroll’s family moved to Los Angeles when she was five years old. She there she began acting in local productions at a young age, before attending the Catholic University of America and then enlist in the US Army during World War II.

Carroll’s first role came in 1947 in the film Hometown Girl. From that point on, the actress became a regular presence on many variety shows for the next three decades.
A voice in the cartoons
Since the late 1980s, Carroll had a big job as a voice actress on animated shows. such as A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, Galaxy High, Foofur, and A Goofy Movie. On television, in Pound Puppies, gave her voice to Katrina Stoneheart. In two Garfield television specials (A Garfield Christmas Y Garfield’s Thanksgiving), played Jon’s feisty grandmother.
Much of Pat Carroll’s career was as a voice actress.
He also lent his voice to the character of Grannt in the 2005 re-release of my neighbor totoro.

He has since reprized the role in other formats, including the video game series Kingdom Heartsthe spinoff television series, and at various rides and shows at Disney theme parks.
Carroll won an Emmy Award in 1956 for his work on Sid Caesar’s house. Also, the actress showed comedy skills playing regular roles in Make Room for Daddy, The Jimmy Durante Show, The Danny Thomas Show, Too Close for Comfort Y She’s the Sheriff.

Other important appearances took place in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Laverne & Shirley, The Love Boat, Designing Women Y ER.
Carroll also ran the game show challenge on 20th century television, with ties in To Tell the Truth, The Match Game, I’ve Got a Secret, Password All-Stars, You Don’t Say Y The $10,000 Pyramid.
A memorable Gertrude Stein
Carroll garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal of Gertrude Stein. in his one-person theater show. The recorded version of the production earned the actress a Grammy in 1980 for Best Spoken Word (Documentary or Drama).
Carroll is survived by his daughters, Kerry Karsian and Tara Karsian; and his granddaughter, Evan Karsian-McCormick.
