A Historic Kurt Cobain Guitar Was Auctioned for $4.5 Million

Most iconic grunge guitar auctioned off in New York for a millionaire: four and a half million dollars, This is the Fender Mustang with which the late singer and Nirvana leader Kurt Cobain recorded the video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. After the auction, Irse announced that they would contribute $16 million for the mental health initiative and has already begun talks with filmmaker Peter Berg to take over the filming of the new commercial, which will seek to “raise awareness of mental health treatment”.

The auction took place this weekend at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York’s Times Square, and a portion of the proceeds will go to Irsay’s initiative.
