The star, famous for his role as the wisecracking anti-hero Deadpool, stopped by to watch the Staples Players prepare for their upcoming production of the classic musical “Les Miserables.”

The school community was buzzing with excitement following the unexpected visit. In a heartfelt message on social media, school officials expressed their gratitude.

“Many, many thanks to actor Ryan Reynolds for stopping by our rehearsal yesterday and sharing some insight about his life and career with our excited cast and crew of ‘Les Mis’!” officials wrote on the Staples Players Facebook page.

A Personal Connection to the Show

The visit wasn’t entirely random. According to the school’s post, Reynolds is a significant fan of the beloved musical. His appearance was made possible at the request of the Fipp family. Beyond just observing, Reynolds actively engaged with the students, offering them a glimpse into his life and successful career in Hollywood. The actor, also known for his witty commercials for Mint Mobile, took his support a step further by filming a short, impromptu promo for the production.

In the video, Reynolds playfully endorses the show, stating, “‘Les Mis,’ as you may or may not know, is amazing, and it will be performed by these folks.” He then pans the camera to the cheering cast of students before humorously adding, “I didn’t graduate high school.”

Reynolds has been spotted in Connecticut before, having recently attended the debut of a John Candy documentary he produced in Ridgefield. His latest appearance in Westport has certainly left a lasting impression on the town’s aspiring young performers.

The Staples Players’ production of “Les Miserables” is scheduled to run from November 13 through November 23.
