Jack Osbourne Shares Heartbreaking Details of Ozzy’s Final Days

In an emotional interview with “Good Morning America,” Jack Osbourne has opened up about the final days of his father, rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, revealing the profound moments that marked the end of an era. The family has been met with an unexpected “outpour of love” following the singer’s death on July 22.

A Final Performance: The ‘Living Wake’

Just 17 days before his death, Ozzy Osbourne took to the stage one last time in his hometown of Birmingham, England. Seated on a throne, he performed his greatest hits, including a reunion with Black Sabbath. Jack recalls the overwhelming emotion of that night.

“Before he went onstage, I ran back into the dressing room and I just gave him a big hug. I just kissed him,” Jack recounted, holding back tears. “I just said, ‘Crush it. You’re gonna do so good.'”

Watching from the crowd with his brother, Jack knew it was a definitive goodbye. “We both were just crying… I think it was because we knew it was the last time,” he explained. “In hindsight, it kind of was a living wake… He got to say goodbye to everyone.”

The Last Chapter

Ozzy’s death came only 48 hours after he finished his final memoir, “Last Rites.” Jack noted the irony in a line from the book where Ozzy states he wouldn’t be “Ozzy” if he’d been clean and sober.

“Here’s the thing, he was clean and sober at the end. And he was still Ozzy,” Jack confirmed. Reading the final chapter, which detailed his father’s happiness in his last years, was especially difficult. “He was in such a good mood,” Jack added.

When asked how Ozzy should be remembered, Jack paused before saying, “Someone who loved his job and his family… And with a great sense of humor.”
