A Candid Confession
Gwyneth Paltrow has confirmed what many already suspected: she’s not keeping up with the Jenners. In a recent cover story for British Vogue, the 53-year-old actress and Goop founder revealed she was completely in the dark about one of Hollywood’s most-talked-about couples, Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner.
The candid admission came as Paltrow recalled her first meeting with Chalamet, 29, during a costume test for their upcoming movie, Marty Supreme. “Everyone makes fun of me because I don’t know anything,” Paltrow confessed. “I was like, ‘Do you have a girlfriend?’ And he was like, ‘I do.’ He mentioned that she had kids and I was like, ‘That’s so cool. I really love to hear that [from] a young man like you.'”
A ‘Punk Rock’ Choice
Paltrow went on to praise the young actor’s choice, unaware of the high-profile identity of his partner. “I understand a 45-year-old who has his own kids going out with a woman with kids, but it’s a cool choice to go out with a young woman who has two kids,” she explained. “I respect it. I think it’s kind of punk rock.”
It was only later that she connected the dots. “But my point is I didn’t know [it was] Kylie Jenner,” she added. Jenner, 28, has been romantically linked to Chalamet since 2023 and shares two children, daughter Stormi, 7, and son Aire, 3, with her ex-boyfriend, Travis Scott.
‘Marty Supreme’ and On-Set Buzz
Paltrow and Chalamet’s collaboration in Marty Supreme has generated significant buzz, partly due to viral photos of them kissing while filming in New York City’s Central Park. The images quickly set the internet alight, and Paltrow’s inner circle was no exception.
“Oh my God, all of my mom group chats were on fire,” she told the magazine. “Everyone was like, ‘Yes, GP, get it!’” she recalled with a laugh. “I’m like, ‘Guys, calm down.'”
In the film, Chalamet plays an aspiring table tennis champion in the 1950s who has an affair with Kay Stone, an actress portrayed by Paltrow. Describing their on-screen relationship, Paltrow noted it’s far from a fairy-tale romance. “The nature of the relationship between Kay and Marty is very transactional. It’s quite cold,” she stated. “It’s not a romance, it’s like a transaction, basically.”
Marty Supreme made a surprise debut at the New York Film Festival and is set to hit theaters on December 25.
