A Rare Glimpse of Family Unity
In a rare and poignant public appearance, Eric Dane was seen enjoying a family dinner with his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and their 13-year-old daughter, Georgia. The actor, who is navigating a challenging battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), was photographed in a wheelchair at the West Hollywood hotspot Sushi Park on Thursday.
Despite the difficult circumstances, the 52-year-old “Euphoria” star appeared to be in good spirits. Dressed in a casual black T-shirt and beige pants, Dane shared a moment of cherished family time. Gayheart was by his side, with their daughter Georgia matching her father’s relaxed style.
A Difficult Journey
The family outing comes nearly a month after a significant health setback for Dane. He revealed to the Washington Post that he missed the highly anticipated “Grey’s Anatomy” reunion at the Emmy Awards because he was hospitalized after a serious fall.
“So I was in the hospital during the Emmys getting stitches put in my head,” he explained, calling ALS a “nasty disease.” The actor expressed his deep disappointment at missing the milestone event, stating he was “really upset” but that “there was nothing I could do about it.”
A Family’s Heartbreak and Hope
Dane first shared his ALS diagnosis in April, expressing gratitude for his “loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.” His wife, Rebecca Gayheart, has since provided insight into the profound impact the disease has had on their lives, particularly on their two daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia.
The Toll on Their Children
“I mean, it’s heartbreaking,” the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum told People in a recent interview. “My girls are really suffering, and we’re just trying to get through it. It’s a tough time.” She added that the family is taking it “day by day” and is working with professional therapists to cope with the progressive neurodegenerative disease. “We’re just trying to have some hope and do it with dignity, grace and love,” Gayheart shared.
United Through Crisis
Though she admitted it’s hard to find a “positive nugget” in their situation, Gayheart emphasized that the crisis has brought them closer. In a significant show of unity, the couple called off their divorce in March 2025, just before Dane announced his diagnosis. They had been separated for seven years.
“We are best of friends. We are really close. We are great co-parents,” she told E! News. “Eric will always be my family, whether we’re married or not, or living in the same house or not.”
