On-Set Joke Surfaces Amid Legal Battle

Newly unsealed footage from the set of It Ends With Us captures a controversial joke made by director and star Justin Baldoni. In the behind-the-scenes video, filmed with co-stars Blake Lively and Jenny Slate, Baldoni is heard saying, “Sorry, I missed the sexual harassment training,” after making a remark.

The video has been submitted as a legal exhibit in the ongoing lawsuit filed by Blake Lively against Baldoni. The clip shows Baldoni saying the word “sexy” while looking toward Lively, before turning to the camera and making the joke about the training while rolling his eyes.

A Contentious Legal Dispute

This video is a central piece of evidence in a larger legal conflict. Blake Lively’s lawsuit accuses Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and workplace retaliation. Her complaint alleges that Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, failed to provide adequate employee protections, including an employee handbook or any form of sexual harassment training.

Lively’s legal team described the on-set incident in the complaint, stating Baldoni’s comment made her feel “ogled and exposed.” According to her filing, when she expressed discomfort, Baldoni sarcastically replied, “I guess I missed the HR meeting,” and walked away.

Baldoni’s Team Responds

Attorneys for Justin Baldoni have pushed back against these claims, describing the interaction in the video as “unremarkable.” In a court filing, his team argued that Lively was dressed in an oversized fleece “onesie” and that the moment did not approach flirtation, as they were surrounded by cast and crew. They also noted that Baldoni apologized and Lively responded, “All good.”

Baldoni has denied all allegations of misconduct. In a deposition, he confirmed under oath that he had participated in anti-harassment training during the film’s production.

What’s Next in the Case?

Baldoni and his co-defendants have filed a motion to have the case dismissed and ruled in their favor without a trial. A decision on that motion is still pending. Previously, Baldoni’s own $400 million countersuit against Lively was dismissed by a judge.

As the legal proceedings continue, the trial is currently scheduled to begin in March 2026.
