Depeche Mode’s live film lands on Netflix
Depeche Mode’s concert film, M, has been added to Netflix. The feature-length film captures the band’s three sold-out shows at Mexico City’s Foro Sol Stadium in September 2023, where the group played to almost 200,000 fans across the run.
Concert setting and scale
Shot over the trio of gigs that opened the tour behind their 2023 album Memento Mori, M presents the scale and atmosphere of Depeche Mode onstage in Mexico City. The stadium performances form the film’s core, mixing full-set live footage with behind-the-scenes moments.

Themes and direction
Directed by filmmaker Fernando Frias, M explores parallels between the songs on Memento Mori and Mexico’s cultural relationship with death and mortality. Frias frames the live performances alongside cultural visuals and reflections that tie the album’s themes to Dia de los Muertos aesthetics and ritual, offering more than a standard concert movie.
Previous releases and accompanying material
M premiered in cinemas worldwide in October and received a physical release and live album in the following weeks. The concert film complements the band’s 15th studio album, Memento Mori, released in March 2023 — the group’s first full-length project following the death of co-founder Andy Fletcher.
