Mike Epps and Shannon Sharpe bury the hatchet

Mike Epps and Shannon Sharpe appeared together on Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast to put an end to a public spat that flared during the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend. The episode — posted to YouTube — showed both men trading jokes, clearing the air and stressing the importance of settling disagreements without violence.

From social-media jabs to a public reconciliation

The two recounted how the 2024 exchange led to a tense moment before they met at Indianapolis’ Kountry Kitchen. Epps and Sharpe both said they wanted to model nonviolent conflict resolution for younger fans. “We’re still all examples in front of millions,” Epps said, and Sharpe added that disagreement doesn’t have to end in a fight.

‘Last Friday’ — a new installment (and maybe more)

Epps gave fans a major update on the “Friday” franchise: he and collaborators Ice Cube, Aaron McGruder and DJ Pooh have been writing the next film, which Epps expects to arrive in 2027. He also suggested the series might continue beyond this installment, saying Ice Cube can keep creating new entries.

Epps acknowledged Chris Tucker’s complicated relationship to the sequels, noting rumors Tucker preferred the franchise remain untouched after his standout work in the original film.

Other projects and favorites

On the podcast, Epps named his role as Milo Hughes in the 2007 biopic “Talk to Me” as a favorite, calling it a role that made him “honest” creatively. He reiterated his long-held hope to see a Richard Pryor biopic made, saying he wants the project finished regardless of who ultimately stars.

Netflix, tours and how to approach Epps

Epps also promoted The Upshaws’ seventh and final season, set to premiere on Netflix Jan. 15. He’s headlining the 30-date “We Them One’s” comedy tour beginning Feb. 8, 2026, and will stop in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Feb. 13.

For fans who spot Epps in public, he gave simple advice: don’t stare — say hello, ask for an autograph and be direct. “Say, ‘Hey, Mike Epps! Can I have an autograph?’ Don’t just sit there and stare at me,” he said.

The Club Shay Shay conversation ran about three hours and offered a wide-ranging look at reconciliation, career milestones and what’s next from Epps — on screen and on stage.
