SoundExchange names Warren 2025 Breakout Artist
SoundExchange has named Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Alex Warren its 2025 Breakout Artist. The honor follows a year of major commercial success driven by Warren’s global hit “Ordinary” and his debut full-length album, You’ll Be Alright, Kid.
“Ordinary” breaks records and connects worldwide
Released in February 2025, “Ordinary” became a cultural phenomenon. The single is certified triple platinum by the RIAA and has amassed more than two billion streams. It spent ten weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, ten weeks atop the Billboard Global 200 and Global 200 EX U.S., and 13 weeks at No. 1 on the U.K. songs chart.
“Ordinary” also dominated U.S. pop radio, remaining at No. 1 for 16 weeks — a new record for the chart — and finished as the top-selling U.S. song released in 2025 by total units.
Album, streams and touring momentum
Warren expanded on last year’s chapter release with the July arrival of You’ll Be Alright, Kid, which combined Chapter 1 tracks with ten new songs. The album features hits such as “Ordinary,” the collaboration “Bloodline” with Jelly Roll, and “On My Mind” with Rosé. It debuted in the top five on the Billboard 200 and charted strongly across Europe.
Across platforms, Warren now boasts over 5.6 billion career streams and around 53 million monthly Spotify listeners. He performed “Ordinary” on stage with Luke Combs at Lollapalooza and sold out venues across Europe and North America on his Cheaper Than Therapy Tour.
Quotes and reaction
“Alex Warren’s authentic storytelling fueled a rise this year that has been nothing short of extraordinary,” said SoundExchange President and CEO Michael Huppe. “With his debut album topping charts and his single ‘Ordinary,’ Alex has redefined what it means to connect with audiences in the digital age.”
Warren responded, “I’m honored to be recognized by SoundExchange as the 2025 Breakout Artist. This year has been filled with so much growth and excitement. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me on this journey.”
What’s next for Warren
Warren will continue touring in 2026, kicking off European dates in April in Düsseldorf before returning to the U.S. in May with shows starting at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and concluding in July at Madison Square Garden in New York.
As streaming milestones and sold-out shows pile up, SoundExchange’s recognition highlights Warren’s rapid rise from personal hardship to mainstream success — a story reflected throughout his songwriting and public profile.
