  • Rulla Pontarelli is part of the cast for the new Bravo series, which completed filming before the incident and is expected to air in 2026.

The criminal case against Brian Pontarelli, the husband of “Real Housewives of Rhode Island” (RHRI) cast member Rulla Pontarelli, has been officially dropped. Prosecutors dismissed the misdemeanor charge on Monday, bringing the legal matter to a close.

The Initial Accusation

The case began in early October when Rhode Island State Police accused Brian Pontarelli of placing a tracking device on his wife’s car. According to reports, Rulla Pontarelli contacted a state police barracks believing she was being tracked. Investigators subsequently found a device in her vehicle, leading to the charge.

Brian Pontarelli, a podiatrist in North Providence, was charged with a misdemeanor under Rhode Island’s domestic violence laws. The incident occurred after filming had already wrapped for the inaugural season of the new Bravo series.

Case Dismissed by Prosecutors

Court records show the case was formally dismissed by prosecutors on Monday, December 1, during what was scheduled to be a pretrial conference. A no-contact order that was initially filed by Rulla Pontarelli had also been terminated several weeks ago.

“Dr. Pontarelli is relieved that the case against him was dismissed and is behind him,” his lawyer, William Murphy, told NBC 10 News.

Murphy also indicated the couple is moving past the event. “Things are going well for the both of them and this was an unfortunate incident,” he said.

What This Means for RHRI

Rulla Pontarelli is a featured cast member on the highly anticipated “Real Housewives of Rhode Island,” which is set to premiere sometime in 2026. Since the alleged incident and subsequent legal proceedings took place after the show finished filming, it is unlikely to be a central storyline in the first season.
