TMNT Stranded: Exclusive First Look at ‘Chrome Alone 2’

The heroes in a half shell are far from home in a newly revealed animated short. Variety has provided an exclusive first look at “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Chrome Alone 2 — Lost in New Jersey,” which sees the beloved characters stranded across the river after a mishap.

A Garden State Mystery

Directed by Kent Seki, the short follows the turtles as they navigate the unfamiliar territory of New Jersey. The plot thickens when a mysterious toy company begins exploiting their newfound fame, leading the brothers on a trail of clues that culminates in a shocking discovery. “We wanted to honor the Ninja Turtles’ history while asking what would happen if we put them somewhere completely unfamiliar,” Seki told Variety.

A Nostalgic and Gritty Vision

The project combines the martial arts action fans love with outlandish, slapstick comedy. Seki, a fan of both the Turtles and ’90s films, said he wanted to “smash those influences together,” comparing the turtles’ new survival challenge to figuring out the Jersey Turnpike. The animation style reflects this unique blend, setting stylized character designs against photorealistic backgrounds to create a world that feels both heightened and real.

The innovative approach has already earned acclaim, with “Chrome Alone 2” becoming the first animated short selected for Variety’s “Pixels and Pencils” directors roundtable. Seki hinted that if audiences connect with this story, it could be the start of more adventures that push the turtles into unexpected corners of the world.
