After the earthquake, industries have developed and the kutch desert has also started turning green, this is the conclusion of a retired ISRO scientist! According to the recent findings of Dr. PS Thakkar, through satellite image, it has come to light that an area of 1600 square kilometers in the desert has become green.

Speaking to Divya Bhaskar, PS Thakkar, who has been studying in the small and big deserts of Kutch for forty years, said that the desert area near the border of Kutch is known as the Bat Zone, there are many types of grasses growing there. So many trees are making the desert green. In areas including Shaktibet, Vighakot, Bediabet and Kanjarkot, from Dharamshala to Zero Point and Haraminala, there is a presence of grass and trees in the desert, now it is seen near Nadabet in Banaskantha.

The desert surface has been raised since the 2001 earthquake, and the area is being rebuilt as the Border Road in the area is being rebuilt, following the rains in Pakistan. The silt acts as a check dam for the grass or plants here. It grows grasses that collect rainwater. Trees, including yellow, khijra, bordi, and kher, have grown in small and large bat areas. The findings were based on satellite imagery. It may be important to keep an eye on it and note the geographical changes there.

Will a change like Bhalpradesh come to Kutch?
The Bhal region, where wheat is now grown in abundance, was known as the Exome Khambhat Desert. Similar changes were reported in the Kutch desert 20 years after the earthquake. P. S. Thackeray was quoted as saying.

The area may have been submerged in a tsunami 8,000 years ago
Dr. Thakkar also believes that this region of the desert and the mainland of Kutch and the land of Nagar Parkar will be connected by road. Due to the tsunami in Gujarat about eight thousand years ago, this area of Kutch district would have been submerged. So that it freshwater for about five hundred years
There was a lake. In the small and large bat area, trees including yellow, khijra, bordi, and kher have grown.

Two kinds of grass in Arabia grow in the desert
During the research field visit, it was noticed that two species of grasses of Arabia are also growing in the vast desert of Kutch.

The wildlife resources through the grass look spectacular
These grasses provide shelter to wildlife including nilgai, chinkara, and zebrafish. Among the birds, raptors with white storks and mallards are also seen more. The silt that comes after the rains of Pakistan is stopped. It acts as a check dam for the grass or plants here.
