Dozens of houses were evacuated on Sunday morning due to fire near Lehi and Alpine.
Homes in the Traverse Mountains area were evacuated around 12:30 a.m., a 1/4 mile radius from Viaultto Way to Annuvolatto Way, located on Spring View Lane, and Autumn. Hills area was ordered to evacuate to Skyridge High School and told to wait there in their vehicles.
The city of Draper later ordered the Maple Hollow neighborhood to be evacuated. Residents were asked to attend Draper Park Middle School.
Draper City also announced that residents living in the SunCrest area should be ready to evacuate, and they would receive a reverse 911 call when ordered to do so.
The Lehi Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) wrote on Twitter, “If you are concerned you should evacuate, please call 911 or do not send. If you are concerned just evacuate.”
More than 10,000 homes in South Salt Lake County suffered power shortages.
The explosion is called the “traverse fire”, estimated to be 150–200 acres and spread quickly due to wind.
Authorities say it was started by fireworks, and the suspect is cooperating with police.
